How to Prep Your Skin the Week of the Wedding

The short answer

The week of your wedding, focus on hydration, rest, and gentle consistency rather than trying anything new on your skin. At Laque by Ruchi in C Scheme, Jaipur, lead artist Ruchi Verma recommends booking your bridal trial at least one to two weeks before the wedding day so that any last-minute skin adjustments can be made well in advance. Rated 4.8 stars on Google by over 199 brides, Laque builds your skin prep conversation into every bridal package so you arrive on the day camera-ready.

Stop experimenting, start protecting

The biggest mistake brides make during the final seven days is switching skincare products in a panic. A new serum, a friend's recommended face mask, or a salon's aggressive facial can trigger breakouts or redness that takes days to settle. Your skin prep wedding week should be about maintaining what already works. Stick to your established cleanser, toner, and moisturiser. If you have been using a prescription retinol or acid treatment, pause it at least five days before the wedding to avoid sensitivity on the big day.

Hydration from the inside out

Glowing wedding skin begins long before your makeup brush touches your face. Aim for at least two to two and a half litres of water daily across the week. Jaipur's dry heat, especially during the October to February wedding season, can dehydrate skin faster than brides expect. Coconut water after the haldi or mehendi ceremony helps replenish electrolytes lost to turmeric pastes and outdoor evening functions. Limit your salt and sugar intake at sangeet and pre-wedding dinners where rich Rajasthani food is plentiful, as both cause puffiness that shows under HD lighting.

The haldi skin reality

Haldi is beautiful for the soul but it leaves a yellow tint that can linger on fair to medium skin tones for 24 to 48 hours. Schedule your haldi at least two days before the wedding, not the evening before. After the ceremony, gently cleanse with a mild besan and rose water scrub rather than harsh soap, and follow with a thick layer of non-comedogenic moisturiser overnight. Avoid any bleaching or brightening treatment directly after haldi as the skin barrier will already be mildly sensitised from the raw turmeric.

Facial timing matters enormously

If you want a professional facial during your bridal skin prep, book it no later than seven days before the wedding, never two or three days before. Extraction-based facials and certain enzyme peels cause temporary redness and enlarged pores that need time to settle. A light hydrating facial using ingredients like hyaluronic acid or saffron one week out is ideal for Rajasthani brides wearing heritage looks such as Rajputi or Bandhej-era inspired makeup, where the skin needs a luminous, polished base rather than a heavily powdered finish.

Sleep is the most underrated bridal tip

Dark circles and under-eye puffiness are among the hardest things for even the most skilled artist to conceal, and no amount of colour-corrector fully replaces eight hours of sleep. The sangeet and mehendi nights tend to run late, which is completely understandable, but try to recover with a full night's rest before the wedding morning. Use a cold jade roller or chilled spoons on your under-eyes for five minutes when you wake up. Elevate your pillow slightly to reduce fluid pooling overnight, a simple bridal skin tip that costs nothing and genuinely shows in photographs.

SPF every single day

Pre-wedding functions in Jaipur often take place outdoors in courtyards, gardens, and heritage venues like havelis or palace lawns where sun exposure is intense. UV damage in the days leading up to your wedding can cause uneven tone, redness, and the kind of tan that sits patchy under bridal foundation. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50 every morning without exception, reapply after the mehendi dries, and wear a dupatta or shade cover at outdoor daytime events. This one step makes a measurable difference to the texture your artist works with on the morning of the ceremony.

Book your trial and lock in your look

The week of the wedding is also when you should already have your bridal trial done and your look confirmed. At Laque by Ruchi, every bridal package from INR 18,000 includes a dedicated in-studio trial so there are zero guesswork surprises on the day. Ruchi and her team work with imported, premium products suited to Rajasthan's climate and your specific skin type, whether you are choosing an airbrush finish, HD bridal, or a Marwari heritage look.
